Our mission at MKE FreshAir Collective is to provide accurate, timely information about air quality in Milwaukee to residents, businesses, and policymakers, with a steadfast commitment to equity and addressing systemic racism.
We use state-of-the-art, consumer accessible equipment and the latest scientific methods to collect and analyze data on air quality in Milwaukee, including measurements of pollutants such as ozone, particulate matter (PM1/2.5/10), and volatile organic compounds.
We work closely with local and state agencies, as well as community organizations and advocates, to ensure that our data is used to inform policies and decisions that affect the health of our community. We also provide educational resources and outreach to help people understand the impact of air quality on their health and what they can do to reduce their exposure to pollutants.
We aim to empower historically marginalized communities, particularly Black, Brown, and Indigenous populations, by offering crucial insights into air quality disparities. Our goal is to foster informed decision-making that protects the health and well-being of all individuals, rectifying historical injustices and advocating for policies that ensure equitable access to clean air and resources.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to transparency and public access to information. We believe that everyone has a right to know about the quality of the air they breathe, and we are dedicated to providing clear and accurate information that is easy to understand.
